![]() The pixel art, now unfiltered, looks incredible. But I figured I'd show some support for the franchise.īasically, you're getting a very decent version of one of the best games ever. And I own physical copies of the SNES and DS versions. I have no problem emulating it heck, the last time I played it was on the SNES Mini. Look no more than their original font choice and that terrible visual filter.īut after watching a pretty comprehensive review on Youtube by Resonant Arc (check out the video about the game's fifth and final patch), I figured I'd finally support this. I think this version is pretty all right! I adored the game for Super Nintendo, and I was horrified at the state in which this Steam version originally launched. Because the Steam version of CT isn't that, and isn't worth playing since the original release is far better and is readily available to be played. I hope that one day we get a real re-release of Chrono Trigger, and that it releases on the PC. It's too bad that SE did next to nothing to address the core issues of the Steam release of CT which is easily one of the very worst game re-release in history. How to make the definitive edition of Chrono Trigger I wrote this a while ago, while CT was still being patched. So, the DS version is still a heavily-downgraded version of CT, and its bonus content only lowers the quality of the overall game package. So, unless the Steam version of CT receives some major updates to address a host of issues still present with it, the SNES version will remain the best, the definitive, and the most polished version of CT. I also don't like that the NDS version has the PS1 cutscenes with no option to turn them off, as those cutscenes are jarring and disruptive, and what they show is contradictory to what actually happens in the game. the NDS version has worse colouring than the SNES versionĪnd then there's the NDS version's "bonus" content, which is of sub-par quality and lowers the overall quality standard of the game. the NDS version has a worse UI than the SNES version the NDS version has a worse font than the SNES version the NDS version has music issues that aren't in the SNES version ![]() the NDS version has a lower resolution than the SNES version ![]() Originally posted by Turbo Nozomix:The NDS version of CT is significantly inferior to the SNES version of CT, and not just because of the translation (which could be up to opinion). ![]()
